About

Phivo Christodoulou, widely recognised as The Dog Health Guy, is an Australian canine-health educator, entrepreneur, speaker, advocate and co-organiser of Canine Masters, one of Australia's leading dog-health education events.

Born in Cyprus and migrating to Victoria, Australia at the age of six, Phivo developed a deep love for animals from an early age. That passion would eventually become a lifelong mission to challenge conventional thinking, ask difficult questions, and help people make more informed decisions about the health and wellbeing of their dogs.

His journey into canine health began in 2010 with a Boxer puppy named Augustine. Faced with questions that many dog owners encounter, Phivo found himself increasingly dissatisfied with the quality of commercial pet foods and the lack of discussion surrounding nutrition, prevention and long-term health. What began as a personal search for answers soon evolved into a full-time obsession with canine nutrition, natural health and disease prevention.

That journey ultimately led to the creation of Augustine Approved, the world's first certified organic wholefood canine supplement companies. Built on the belief that food should be viewed as one of the foundations of health, Augustine Approved helped pioneer the use of certified organic ingredients and human-grade principles within the canine supplement and skincare space, bringing concepts that were once considered niche into the mainstream conversation.

Since 2010, Phivo has dedicated his life to challenging the normalisation of chronic disease in modern dogs through education, observation, nutrition and prevention-based thinking. Known for his philosophical and thought-provoking approach to dog health, he combines years of personal experience, research and real-world observation to encourage people to think differently about the way dogs live, eat and experience modern life.

Over the years, Phivo has become known for challenging assumptions and encouraging dog owners to think critically about the information they receive. Whether discussing nutrition, ingredients, preventative health strategies, environmental influences or emerging research, his focus has remained consistent: helping people understand that common disease is not necessarily normal, and that small, consistent improvements can have a profound impact on long-term health.

Beyond product development, Phivo has become one of Australia's most recognisable voices in natural canine health. Through articles, podcasts, interviews, social media, educational events and public speaking engagements, he has helped educate dog lovers around the world on the role that nutrition, lifestyle and environment play in supporting health and wellbeing. His passion lies not only in creating products, but in empowering people through free educational content, conversations and ideas that inspire them to better understand and support the health of their animals.

He is also known for his ongoing advocacy surrounding regulatory reform and the treatment of natural animal-health products within Australia. Through years of engagement with regulators, policymakers and industry stakeholders, he has consistently argued for greater transparency, fairness and recognition of the natural-health sector while encouraging constructive dialogue about the future of animal healthcare.

As co-organiser of Canine Masters, Phivo has helped bring together some of the world's most respected veterinarians, researchers, nutritionists and health practitioners to share ideas, challenge assumptions and advance the conversation around canine health. His work increasingly focuses on creating respectful dialogue between differing viewpoints and helping pet owners navigate complex and often conflicting information.

Today, through The Dog Health Guy, Phivo continues his mission to educate, challenge and inspire. His goal is not to tell people what to think, but to encourage them to ask better questions, examine evidence critically, remain open-minded and make decisions that align with their own values and circumstances.

While Augustine, Faith and little Mishka are no longer by his side, their impact remains immeasurable. They were not simply beloved companions. They were his greatest teachers. Much of what Phivo has learned, questioned, built and shared with the world can be traced back to the lessons they helped him discover.

Their legacy lives on through his work, his writing, his advocacy and his commitment to helping dogs live healthier, happier and longer lives.
